AMAZING WATERCOLOR!
at The River Gallery School, Brattleboro
Explore FOUR different watercolor disciplines. In each series, we will experiment with color mixing, using light and dark values to create interest and choosing a format for your painting. Open to all levels…some watercolor experience is helpful.


Series 2. ANIMALS 6 classes April 4 - May 16 1-3:30
-How to paint fur, hair, scales and feathers
-Using watercolor pencils
-Working from photographs

Series 3. FLOWERS 6 classes September 19 - October 24 1-3:30
-Painting in layers
-Expressing vibrant color

WATERCOLOR PLEIN AIR LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP
at The River Gallery School, Brattleboro: July 13 & 14 9:30-12 and July 20 10-1

We will paint the beautiful West River (from an overlook on Putney Road) and address some of the challenges and rewards of painting outside. Wind, bugs, and onlookers can be distractions, but painting directly from nature makes it a challenge to capture the quickly shifting effects that light has on the landscape. The sketches produced during this workshop can serve as a model for a more formal painting at some later date.

BEGINNING CALLIGRAPHY
at The River Gallery School, Brattleboro: June 8 & 15 1-4

This class is an introduction to the Pilot Parallel Pen which gives a smooth flow of ink without drips or blobs. The thick-and-thin lines that characterize fine calligraphy are easy to achieve with this remarkable tool.
We’ll concentrate on the Italic alphabet (also called Chancery Cursive) which was developed in Italy during the Renaissance. With these beautiful letterforms, students will be able to make invitations, fancy cards and envelopes, certificates and journals.
